Illustrator and Graphic Artist

Teaching Artist
Alex Strasser offers teaching artist services for schools, arts organizations, and community programs. Her classes are designed to be engaging, inclusive, and rooted in hands-on skill building.
Through instruction across traditional and digital media, Alex creates learning environments where students can explore the creative process, build confidence, and develop critical thinking skills. From mentoring high school students to leading adult community classes, her approach treats art as a shared language that encourages curiosity, connection, and growth beyond the classroom.
Why Art Education Matters
Art education plays an essential role in how students learn to think, communicate, and understand the world around them. Well-designed programs support creativity while also strengthening problem-solving, observation, and critical thinking skills. Art classes also provide students with a safe space to experiment and express ideas in ways that are often missing in traditional curricula.
Ultimately, for schools and organizations, these programs help create more well-rounded learning environments that encourage student engagement, collaboration, and confidence.

For Alex, teaching art is a passion. She values the way creative work brings people together through a shared process of creation and discovery. No matter a student’s age or experience level, Alex emphasizes discussion, intention, and thought process as much as the final piece. She especially enjoys working with students who arrive believing they are not “artistic,” and watching them leave class proud of something they created themselves. Seeing that shift in confidence and curiosity is central to why she teaches.
Art classes offer more than technical instruction. They create moments of connection across backgrounds, experiences, and abilities. Through teaching, Alex uses art to foster openness, curiosity, and a lasting appreciation for creative thinking within her community.
Teaching Experience
Alex has extensive experience teaching art to students ranging from early childhood through adulthood, with a strong focus on mentoring high school–age students. She has led after-school programs, homeschool and cyber classes, summer intensives, and adult education courses. Her classes are designed to be adaptable, accessible, and responsive to the needs of each group.
